I could see his potential…..He was very loving.

I wanted to follow up on our adoption of Bozley.  We adopted Bozley on November 26, 2011.  We had been looking for a second dog for quite some time, basically since our pitbull Dewey died in July 2010.  In browsing your website, we found two Boston Terriers.  I grew up with a Boston, so have always had a soft spot for them.  We visited Bozley at the adoption event.  He was very skinny, his coat was in pretty poor shape, he had stitches from his neuter and a surgery to correct his tail crop, worms and he also had a very snotty nose and eyes.  Being a rescue volunteer myself, I could see his potential.  He was very loving.  We decided to take him home, feeling sad we couldn’t take his friend, ‘Lil Bit. (She was adopted shortly after him)

The first weekend, I actually had some fears and reservations about my decision.  He had a few accidents and having a small dog was very different from having 50 lb.+ dogs, which I have had for the past 20 years.  I share this bit of information to encourage other people to stick with it and give it a true try when adopting an animal.  Even with all of my dog ownership and rescue experience, I was having doubts.  It took two days before Bozley would go down stairs.  He wouldn’t eat unless we handfed him.  He seemed terrified.  Fast forward two weeks, he’s running, jumping and playing with our other dog, Ella (pictured) in the backyard.  It warmed my heart to see them romping around in the unseasonably warm winter weather!  Fast forward another two weeks, Bozley is firmly entrenched in our family.  He knows the routines, he eats out of his bowl (after dancing around in excitement), his skin is healed, his coat is thicker, he’s gained a few pounds, the snotty nose and eyes are long-since gone.  He is reliable outside of his crate now, so has free reign in the house.  He doesn’t chew or have accidents.  He sleeps under the covers with me every night.  He is a total lover and we could not be happier with this addition to our family.  The picture is he and Ella sharing a furry blanket on the couch just last week.  Thank you for the work you do.  I hope that people will read our story and realize that what you see at the adoption event is only the “before” version of a wonderful pet.  With love, training and a good diet, anything is possible! ~ Twyla
