She’s getting spoiled every day by her three “sisters”.
My family adopted Sugar Foot, the miniature poodle. We’ve renamed her Sugar Belle and she’s been doing just wonderful. She’s the most cuddly dog we’ve ever seen! She’s getting spoiled every day by her three “sisters”. Thank you for rescuing her and thank you for helping to bring her into our lives.
With sincere gratitude,
The Twait Family
I could see his potential…..He was very loving.
I wanted to follow up on our adoption of Bozley. We adopted Bozley on November 26, 2011. We had been looking for a second dog for quite some time, basically since our pitbull Dewey died in July 2010. In browsing your website, we found two Boston Terriers. I grew up with a Boston, so have always had a soft spot for them. We visited Bozley at the adoption event. He was very skinny, his coat was in pretty poor shape, he had stitches from his neuter and a surgery to correct his tail crop, worms and he also had a very snotty nose and eyes. Being a rescue volunteer myself, I could see his potential. He was very loving. We decided to take him home, feeling sad we couldn’t take his friend, ‘Lil Bit. (She was adopted shortly after him)
The first weekend, I actually had some fears and reservations about my decision. He had a few accidents and having a small dog was very different from having 50 lb.+ dogs, which I have had for the past 20 years. I share this bit of information to encourage other people to stick with it and give it a true try when adopting an animal. Even with all of my dog ownership and rescue experience, I was having doubts. It took two days before Bozley would go down stairs. He wouldn’t eat unless we handfed him. He seemed terrified. Fast forward two weeks, he’s running, jumping and playing with our other dog, Ella (pictured) in the backyard. It warmed my heart to see them romping around in the unseasonably warm winter weather! Fast forward another two weeks, Bozley is firmly entrenched in our family. He knows the routines, he eats out of his bowl (after dancing around in excitement), his skin is healed, his coat is thicker, he’s gained a few pounds, the snotty nose and eyes are long-since gone. He is reliable outside of his crate now, so has free reign in the house. He doesn’t chew or have accidents. He sleeps under the covers with me every night. He is a total lover and we could not be happier with this addition to our family. The picture is he and Ella sharing a furry blanket on the couch just last week. Thank you for the work you do. I hope that people will read our story and realize that what you see at the adoption event is only the “before” version of a wonderful pet. With love, training and a good diet, anything is possible! ~ Twyla
It’s fun to see her wagging her tail already
I have re-named Carolyn (she is now known as) Laney. I think she is doing very well!! It’s fun to see her wagging her tail already. And no accidents in the house since Sunday! Yay!! She’s so good with people and any dog she’s met thus far. What a great little dog she is! I (am sending) three pictures. The first was when I first got her in my truck from adopting her. She doesn’t like to look directly into the camera. The second is her asleep in the truck later that day. And the third was on Sunday when she picked out one of her spots in the living room. Funny she thought to use some books as a pillow. Her tongue sticking out is pretty funny.
Thank you!! MaryBeth

All Hugs and Legs
Attached are some pictures of Victor (now Samson; also known as: Sammy/Sam/Hey Cutie/Hey Buddy/Stop Licking Me Dog)
He is just such a sweetie – all hugs and legs. I have never met a dog who loves to “hug” so much. And who gets so very excited when he sees our son and daughter-in-law come home (they live next door…we share a yard) If his tail had its way, he would be airborne. It is like a helicopter rotor and if the rest of him was not attached, his tail and butt would totally fly away!!
He’s gained a few pounds, and looks so very handsome.
He still has to learn how to play with toys – we are working on that!

What a great member of the family
It’s been some time since we adopted Theresa (now Penelope, aka Penny) but I wanted to let you know what a great dog she is and what a great member of the family she has become . We are both just so happy we adopted her. So thank you. She’s about 25lbs now and we don’t think she’ll get to be much bigger and she is just the greatest, most loving and well mannered dog fist-time owner could ask for… May 2012 bring the best.

New Starts for the New Year
What do the following dogs have in common?
Bingo, Brownie, Buddy, Buffalo, Finona/Ellie, Gemma/Judy, Hendricks, Julep, Katherine, Memphis, Mick, Nadi, Pepper, Ruby, Sugar/River, Tank, Tilly, Willoby
They have all been with Homeward Bound for a long time and are part of our New Starts for the New Year adoption promotion with reduced adoption fees. We’re taking this month to try really hard help these guys find their forever home. Why have they been with us for so long? Some have special needs such as being an only dog or not wanting to live with kids but they’re all fun pooches who have a lot of love to share.
Thank You! To all of our supporters
The close of 2011 brought an outpouring of support. Thank you so much to everyone who supported, volunteered with, and donated to Homeward Bound during the year!
Walser Subaru and Highland Bank thank you so much for your donation drives! All of the supplies, towels, treats, etc. were really appreciated by the dogs.
Fratalone’s Ace Hardware Petfood Warehouse thank you for your donations - our dog’s tummies are happy for them!
The employees at Periscope (advertising) for collecting and donating “presents for pets!”
We look forward to a wonderful 2012 and wish you all the best for a happy New Year.
