The generosity of supporters like you goes a very long way in helping Homeward Bound cover day to day expenses including veterinary bills, transportation costs, distribution/marketing materials, and more! We are extremely grateful for all monetary assistance, regardless of the frequency or size! Please consider helping us keep the doors open so we can continue to rescue and place these wonderful animals.
We accept donations in most denominations via PayPal. You can submit a one-time gift or set up a recurring donation! If you are making the donation on behalf of a loved one or pet please let us know in the notes with your gift so we can provide appropriate recognition on our Supporters page!
If you do not want to ship an item we are happy to accept gift cards! You can purchase a gift card from Petco for supplies or purchase a gas card from Super America and they will email it to us within 24 hours! Please have online gift cards emailed to: email@example.com
Cash or Check
We will happily accept your cash or check donation at any of our adoption events. Check our list of upcoming adoptions to find the one closest to you! You may also mail checks to: Homeward Bound Dog Rescue, P.O. Box 1056, Monticello, MN 55362
Your gift could be matched dollar for dollar! Many companies and foundations will match their employees’ gifts to non-profit organizations such as Homeward Bound Dog Rescue. Through corporate matching gift programs, cash gifts from a company’s eligible employees are matched with company or corporate foundation funds. It all adds up to a great way to increase your contributions and receive more benefits at no additional cost to you! If you have questions about your company’s matching gift program, please contact your human resources department. Once you have determined that your company matches donations made to Homeward Bound; please obtain the appropriate form from your human resources office, complete the entire donor portion of the form, and send it with a copy of your gift receipt (if available) to: Homeward Bound Dog Rescue,
Attn: Sherri / Gift Match, PO Box 1056, Monticello, MN 55362.
If you have any questions, please email Sherri at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sponsor a cat or dog
Would you like to help out a dog in our program but can’t foster but don’t feel that you can foster or that you don’t have the time to give to a dog? If that’s the case, sponsoring a dog just may be what you are looking for. Knowing that your funds are going to a certain dog to help with a spay/neuter, heartworm treatment, shots, surgery, or daily care is especially rewarding and is very much appreciated. To sponsor a dog, just send in your donation (either via paypal or check), make note of which dog(s) you are interested in sponsoring, if there is anyone you’d like the sponsor in honor of, if you want your name to appear on our web site, or if you wish to remain anonymous. It’s as simple as that! If you have any questions, you can email Sherri at email@example.com.

Become a volunteer
We are always looking for people who are willing to help walk or care for the dogs during our Saturday adoption events. To participate as a volunteer for Homeward Bound Dog Rescue (HB) you must be at least 18 years of age. 15-17 year olds may volunteer with written consent of a parent/guardian. 12-14 year olds may volunteer with a parent/guardian volunteer. Children under 12 may not volunteer without out the express consent of the Volunteer Coordinator or a HB Director.
All volunteers (or parents/guardians of minor volunteers) must sign a volunteer agreement and waiver in which a volunteer agrees to participate at their own risk and to hold harmless and indemnify Homeward Bound Dog Rescue from all claims, demands, actions, causes of action or liability of any kind whatsoever arising as a result of doing volunteer work with Homeward Bound Dog Rescue.
When you first start volunteering with Homeward Bound, we prefer that you arrive after 11:30 p.m. as the start of the adoptions is very busy and we want time to give you a brief orientation. After your first event you are welcome to come early to help set up for the events. We do not have any minimum time commitments. If you have an hour free to help walk dogs, we’d love the help. If you want to come for the afternoon, we will keep you busy! As we said adoptions tend to be busy, somewhat chaotic and can be bit overwhelming at first but once you start to get to know the dogs and see how happy the adopters are when they find that special pet it really is a lot of fun! Feel free to email Sherri at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions about volunteering with Homeward Bound Dog Rescue.
Because we do not have a brick and mortar facility we rely on our foster families to care for the animals in our program. Without our dedicated group of fosters we would not be as successful as we are. Fostering is simple although it does require commitment. Foster parents need to agree to: Keep the dog (or cat) indoors as part of the family, bring the dog to our weekly Saturday pet adoptions, and use only Homeward Bound authorized veterinarians if vet care is needed for the animal.
If you’re interested in becoming a foster parent please read our foster parent information page. If, after reviewing that information, you feel that you can commit to being a foster parent please email Sherri at email@example.com for a foster application. Once approved, new fosters are required to do one afternoon of volunteer work at an adoption event before selecting their first foster dog. After that one afternoon fosters are not required to stay at each event, although we love to have the help! Dropping off and picking up the foster at the beginning and end of the events is fine. In addition, a check equivalent to the foster animal’s adoption fee must be left as a security deposit.
Throughout the year we have a variety of fundraisers: Warm water dog washes, Yappy Hour, Wine and Wag, coupon book sales, silent auction, and more! Keep an eye on our events page for upcoming opportunities to join us and help Homeward Bound Dog Rescue.
